LIBT Gaming News – You thought ads on the NXE were slowing things down before…
Gamasutra reports that Microsoft is looking to integrate Silverlight-powered advertisements into the 360 dashboard in the near future according to a MediaPost Publications Article. The article states that “Silverlight-powered media on Xbox will have the same appearance as ads seen on a Web browser.”
Complaining about in-game ads was already getting tiresome at the beginning of this generation, but at least you didn’t notice them if you weren’t playing that specific game. Ads on the 360 Dashboard however, have been increasingly…lame. It’s bad enough that the new Dashboard takes a long time to load everything (though in it’s defense it’s faster than the first era 360 dashboard was) and now the ‘board loads up ads every time you navigate your 360 trying to see what’s new. I understand why there are ads on the dashboard…wait I’m a LIVE Gold Member why AM I still seeing intrusive ads on my dashboard that’s pretty stingy Microsoft.
But yeah I understand why advertising on the dashboard alone is a enticing to potential partners, but for the gamer just trying to navigate their dashboard, it’s still just…lame to have to make it such a big part of the NXE rather than a small diversion of the 360 dashboard experience. – The Ben
